“No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face” - Elegy IX: The Autumnal by John Dunne

As the light of day slowly fades into darkness, the realisation that these daylight hours are numbered is palpable, the cooler crisp air creates these atmospheric misty mornings of late and hence draping our chilly shoulders in comforting cashmere to ward off the chill feels just right, as does transferring our home into a haven of calm by the simple illumination of lighting a favourite candle - bringing peace and reverence after a long day.

Leaves crushing underfoot, as our weekend walk slowly leads us back to the heart warming rich and tender stew spiced with juniper berries puttering away on our stove, as the red wine is enjoyed to the last and the nutmeg and cinnamon infused plum compote is teasing us into a final temptation.

Oh, these autumn days.
